—— They’re back!

These are some of my absolute favorites - and many of yours as well! These precious little winter trees are how I learned to use watercolor paints. Fun fact - in college I mostly worked in acrylic & oil paints. They’re amazing & rich materials to work with. However, they were messy, smelly, and difficult to clean. One day I happened upon watercolor paints - and I never looked back. I invested in a beautiful set of Sennelier watercolors and was immediately in love.

These misty landscapes were some of the first scenes I played around with. Here’s the thing. You can’t really mess up trees. So they were a perfect playground for me to learn the ins and outs of watercolor, and what I often recommend to others when they tell me they want to pick up painting. (And to let you in a little secret - I’m thinking about starting a Friday tutorials series on my Instagram in the new year where I go over the basics of watercolor & gouache and how to paint fun things like these trees - does that interest you?!)

—— Inspiration

Ok. I have to be honest. I have not traveled since the beginning of the pandemic - except for a short 48 hours in Omaha for a dear friend’s wedding. Yet - these little landscapes stay with me always. They are so fun to play & experiment with, and I can pull up old travel photos and still be inspired. Perhaps, it’s my way of transforming the 80 degree weather we’ve had lately in Houston into it’s own winter wonderland ;)

——— The Details

Each piece is an original, painted with watercolor & ink on a 5x7 inch, 300 lb, cotton paper. Each painting will be available unframed only, but I will include recommendations for framing here. Since this work is painted with watercolor, the safest bet is always storing artwork behind a glass surface or hanging it in an area away from potential water exposure. They will be titled and signed on the back. Please see my FAQ for any further questions.

—— Early birds

This is a limited collection with just 9 paintings! I highly recommend getting on my email list, and promise to only send the good stuff and never any spam. It has been a long time since I sold any of these winter paintings, and I am just so excited to share them with y’all!!

—— The Philos Project

In 2019, I was blessed to travel two separate times to the Near East with the Philos Project. It is a time of my life that is so precious and dear to me. I learned so much, and to this day I have been unable to forget the lasting impact of what real life is like for Christians in the Middle East. I am happy to once again partner with the Philos Project and donate 10% of profits from this collection to supporting Coptic Christians during this holiday season. These donations will be used to send packages to these families containing food and clothes. Click here to read more about their important work in Egypt right now.

——— Prints

This is the first year that I ventured into the exciting world of printmaking! What a wonderful and detailed process. If you are interested in a print collection - then please let me know! I am still in the process of learning how to scan, edit, and produce my work on a professional level - but it has been such an exciting and fulfilling time. I released my first set of prints through the Pantone Collection, and am so eager for more!

Available on Wednesday, December 15th at 9 am CT.

——— Thank you & looking ahead to 2022

I am so excited to close the chapter of 2021 and I eagerly look forward to the unfolding of 2022. I know the turning of a new year doesn’t necessarily mean that things will change - but I can say with complete honesty this was one of the most challenging years of my life and I am looking forward to moving forward (even if it is merely symbolic). Cheers, my dears. Wishing you a blessed Christmas and the happiest of new years. I am so eager to create beautiful things in the new year, and am so grateful for your participation in this small community that has created around my own work.

With love,

Christie
